(Vocals)...a native of NC, she began singing at the age of 13. She is best remembered as the choir soloist in "The Color Purple", quoted as being "one of the film's most stirring moments". She has also appeared in TV movies for CBS and the USA Network in addition to George Lucas' "The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles" as well as performing on the theatrical stage alongside Dr. Maya Angelou. She has shared the musical stage with such acts as George Benson, Najee, Ramsey Lewis, George Howard, Nancy Wilson, Boyz II Men, Ray Charles, Philip Bailey, Babyface and Jeffrey Osborne. Most recently, she has made her move to Atlanta, GA, where she is continuing her career and creative aspirations. Not only has she performed before vast audiences in the U.S., she has done so in the Asian-Pacific region as well. While in Japan, Maria released 2 CDs entitled, "Peace of Mind" and "Same Old Story".
